Using the Automatic Silence Remover

Shorten quiet gaps in a voice note, spoken recording or rehearsal explanation. The tool proposes cuts based on audio levels; review them before applying so that quiet words and useful pauses stay in the recording.

Instructions

  1. Choose audio or drop a recording into the editor. Play Original to hear the pacing before making changes.
  2. Set What counts as quiet, the minimum pause length, and Leave this much pause. Click Find quiet pauses to see the proposed removals.
  3. Listen around each proposed cut and untick any gap you want to keep. Orange areas mark the audio proposed for removal.
  4. Click Apply reviewed cuts, then listen with Result. Check Time saved and New length before clicking Download WAV.

How silence detection changes the recording

The quiet threshold is measured in dBFS. Moving it higher, toward zero, treats more audio as quiet and can include soft speech. The minimum pause setting leaves shorter gaps alone. Leave this much pause retains breathing room around each cut, and short edge fades help prevent clicks. Selected gaps are removed from the timeline, so the exported recording is shorter.

What to do if words or pauses are cut

  • Lower the quiet threshold if soft syllables are included in a proposed cut. Review again after changing the detection settings.
  • Choose a longer minimum pause or leave more pause if the result feels rushed. Untick pauses that help a listener follow the speaker.
  • Background noise can stop gaps from being detected. Music rests and fading notes may also be intentional; the tool detects quiet levels, not words or musical phrasing.

Processing stays on your device and the result exports as WAV. Keep the source recording and listen through the finished version before sharing it.
