Fat Analog Sound with Digital Flexibility

IK Multimedia hit it out of the park with their UNO Synth analog synthesizer, and now they’ve done it again with UNO Drum. This killer-sounding drum machine packs six analog voices, 54 SampleTank-derived PCM samples, and a bevy of ear-pleasing effects. UNO Drum is tailor-made for performance, thanks to 12 touch-sensitive pads, four dynamic encoders, and an onboard 64-step sequencer. Add to that stutter, random, and roll effects, and you’re guaranteed a wild, fun-filled ride. You also get USB, MIDI, and audio pass-through for easy rig integration. And can you believe that UNO Drum is bus powered? IK Multimedia’s UNO Drum is a must-have for analog synth enthusiasts.

Teeming with high-quality drum sounds

The most important element of any serious drum machine is the quality of its sounds, and UNO Drum is teeming with excellent ones. Build fat, punchy sounds with six true analog voices — kick, snares, claps, and hi-hats — designed by the analog gurus at Soundmachines. You also get 54 PCM samples — toms, rims, ride, and cowbell — derived from IK’s popular SampleTank 4. Best of all, you can craft massive rhythms by layering the analog and PCM sounds together with 11-voice polyphony. And if you love to tweak, you’ll appreciate UNO Drum’s impressive array of sound-shaping tools, including tune, snap, and decay for every sound, and global drive and compression effects.

Tailor-made for performance

Performing with IK’s UNO Drum is easy and fun. Tap out rhythms on 12 touch-sensitive pads with dual velocity zones. Spice things up with stutter, random, and roll effects. Record by step or in real time using the onboard 64-step sequencer with eight parameter automations per step. This feature-packed drum machine is fully programmable, enabling you to save and recall 100 patterns and 100 drum kits. What’s more, Song mode chains up to 64 patterns together in any order. At Sweetwater, we’ve crafted all kinds of cool songs and sequences using UNO Drum — it’s addictive!

Hybrid drum synth with a huge sound and small price tag.

Where else can you get a hybrid drum machine for this price?? I was expecting a bad experience because of a lot of bad reviews online, but ik multimedia must have worked the kinks out, because my unit has no noise issues whatsoever with the USB cable. That aside, this thing has an incredible sound! It's mono, but you get some seriously punchy and thwacky sounds. You can combine an analog kick with a kick sample, pick a good snare, crank up the compression and drive and its beautiful. I've owned several drum machines over the years, 2 of them were extremely high-end and about 8x the price, and so far I feel like the UNO is a better fit for me sonically, and its so easy to use. Less is more sometimes.

Best Drum Machine on the market!!!!

**Before you consider the poor reviews---understand the people complaining clearly didn't google a solution.
This is a fun, banging drum machine. The sounds are awesome, pure analog goodness. The PCM sounds are ok but can be replaced with a myriad of other options via the drum editor software---samples of 30 classic drum machines can be swapped in and out.

Ok, next--playability. This thing rocks...and as a drummer myself, I find it easy and fun to use the roll and stutter functions in performance. Best part--I have figured out every function of this drum machine without needing a manual except once (to learn how to use SONG mode to chain together patches). It plays great with other gear, too. Currently I have it set up with a novation SLMKIII sequencer and program beats via that controller---however, you can set the UNO to "EXTERNAL SYNC" and then pressing start on the novation presses start on the uno drum. Tempo is tight a drum, (see what i did there?) unlike the old SR16.

**As for the "noisey outputs"---while it is true using USB power results in a hum---simply using a wall jack instead of usb power supply completely silences the hum. Just buy a usb to wall socket adapter and issue solved. Who knows why USB powering causes hum. Its a $ analog drum machine. can't be perfect.

**Regarding "unresponsive pads"....well it is a capacitive touch/ hard surface type pads. these are meant for inputting notes, and certainly not performing. This would be like claiming VST synths have bad feedback if played on screen keyboard. Well, yeah. Its not made for that. You sorta need a controller to rock out with it. Same w uno. Tell you what---connecting the uno to a roland spd30---amazing. Amazing fun. I was blasting out hip hop 808 beats for hours. (Sorry neighbors). And the drum machine is perfectly responsive when midi controlled via external pads.

I feel like some dudes get mad at having previously spend thousands on drum machines with crazy features built in...and here comes this lil piece of plastic that sounds just as good but mad it isnt a new porsche of a drum machine. Its more like a new toyota corolla. has all the needed parts of an analog drum machine...especially the sound. Just no flashy bells and whistles.

Great, affordable little drum machine

I was looking for a small drum machine to integrate into my synth live rig. After considering other options, I settled on the Uno Drum. It fits in well, is easy to operate and sounds great. I really like the mix of PCM and analog drum sounds in the same device.

Some other users have complained about USB ground noise, but I have not experienced any problem with this. The pads on mine are also responding as intended. My only wish would be if the Uno had CV clock I/O out (similar to the Arturia Keystep) so it could be more easily syncronized with Eurorack synth gear. Overall, the Uno Drum is a nice little drum machine.

Excellent little drum machine

The sound of this drum machine is quite different than any others I own and that in itself makes it worth having.
It has a lovely lofi feel in the sampled sounds that compliment it's analog foundation.
An expected bonus is how good the preset kits and patterns are. Great to have 64 steps per pattern and 8 automatable parameters.

Amazing Little Piece is Gear!

I had originally purchased the Uno Synth, which is a fun mini synthesizer with excellent presets but a bit difficult to fully control, and not as intuitive as they could have made it. However, the Uno Drum is incredibly fun, easy to work with, and sounds phenomenal. I"ve spent hours cycling through pre-sets, and tweaking each one, which is both incredibly satisfying and fairly easy to do. The real magic started when I connected the Uno Synth to the Uno Drum – – you just connect the "out" of one to the "in" of the other — and start jamming! As long as the tempo is set the same on both units, they sync properly and sound terrific. I started by cycling through presets on the drum, while also choosing a preset on the synthesizer; that made it extremely easy to get a quick groove going, at which time I could modify any settings, whether on the drum side or on the synthesizer side, and add some attitude to the mix. You could definitely use this for live performance, as well as for recording into a DAW. For the price, this drum machine can"t be beat. Take my advice and team it up with an Uno synthesizer and you will have hours of musical enjoyment.
