Gig Earnings Calculator

Know what your gig earns

Put the fee, costs and time together to see the return for your band and each member.

Secure. Data stays in your browser

Use one currency for every amount. Include travel, setup, performance and pack down in hours. Members share the remaining profit or loss equally.

This estimate uses your entries; it does not apply tax, exchange rates or deductions automatically.

Work out your earnings before accepting a gig

The advertised fee is only the starting point. Add any other income you expect to keep, then subtract the costs you will pay for travel, equipment and other expenses. The remaining amount is the total profit or loss for the group.

Dividing that amount by the number of members gives an equal share per person. Dividing each share by the full time commitment gives an hourly estimate. If members spend different amounts of time or use a different payment agreement, calculate their actual shares separately.

Using the Gig Earnings Calculator

See what remains from a gig after the costs you enter. Include the whole time commitment, from travel and setup to packing down, if you want a useful hourly estimate.

Instructions

  1. Set Currency label and enter Gig fee plus any Other income you expect to receive.
  2. Enter travel, equipment or venue costs and other costs in the same currency.
  3. Enter Members sharing equally and Hours per member. Read the group net amount, each member's share and the hourly figure.

Understanding profit and loss

With a fee of 500 and costs of 60, the group keeps 440. Split between four members, that is 110 each; over five hours, it is 22 per member per hour. A negative result means the entered costs exceed the income.

What to do if the earnings look too high

  • Include travel both ways, parking, hired equipment and any costs you will actually pay.
  • Use total hours, not just stage time. Each member's hourly estimate assumes the same hours and equal sharing.
  • Check empty fields and ensure the number of members is at least one. Currency labels do not convert amounts.

Compare the estimate with your real agreement before accepting a gig. Taxes and unequal member payments need their own calculations.
