Program a sixteen-step drum loop
Each row represents one synthesized drum sound. Turn steps on or off, then press Start. The sixteen steps divide a four-beat bar into sixteenth notes. Kick gives the low pulse, snare supplies the backbeat, and hi-hat fills the gaps. Try the included patterns as a starting point and edit them while the loop plays.
Save your drum pattern
Export pattern JSON saves the tempo and three rows of step values as a readable data file. It contains a pattern, rather than recorded audio, and can be kept as a reference for programming a sequencer. These sounds are created in your browser without samples or downloads.
Using the Online Drum Machine
Build a simple backing loop with kick, snare and hi-hat. The sounds are synthesized in your browser, so you can try patterns without choosing samples or installing a sequencer.
Instructions
- Choose Tempo (BPM), set Playback level and select a Pattern. Click Load pattern to apply it.
- Tap numbered steps in each drum row to turn hits on or off. Clear removes the current pattern.
- Press Start to hear the loop and Stop to finish. Export pattern JSON saves the step choices and tempo.
Reading the sixteen steps
The sixteen positions divide a four-beat bar into sixteenth notes. Steps 1, 5, 9 and 13 mark the main beats. A snare on 5 and 13 gives a familiar backbeat, while alternating hi-hat steps create an eighth-note pulse.
What to do if the loop is not what you expected
- Selecting a preset alone does not load it. Click Load pattern and check the highlighted steps.
- On a phone, each drum's sixteen steps wrap onto two rows. Follow the numbers to keep the order clear.
- Check volume and active steps if a drum is silent. The JSON download stores a pattern, not an audio recording.
Keep an exported pattern as a reference for another sequencer. This tool does not import that file or turn it into a recorded drum track.
