Online Audio Volume Booster
Using the Audio Volume Fixer
Adjust a quiet recording or reduce the difference between loud and soft passages. Choose Make louder for an even gain change, or Even out when the recording needs dynamics compression before its level is raised.
Instructions
- Choose audio or drop your recording into the editor. Play Original to check the starting level at a comfortable device volume.
- Select Make louder or Even out. Set Peak ceiling; the default of -1 dB leaves some space below full-scale sample clipping.
- In Even out mode, adjust Compress above and Compression ratio. Start with the defaults, then click Fix volume.
- Compare Original and Processed. Change the settings and process again if needed, then click Download WAV when the result sounds right.
Understanding gain and compression
Make louder adjusts the whole recording to the chosen sample peak while preserving its level differences. It can also lower a recording that exceeds the ceiling. Even out compresses louder passages before adjusting the output level. A lower compression threshold affects more of the recording; a higher ratio applies stronger compression above that threshold.
What to do if the output is noisy or uneven
- Raising the level also raises existing hiss and room noise. Reduce background noise first if it becomes distracting.
- Try a higher threshold or lower ratio if compression makes speech sound squeezed or changes the feel of music.
- Distortion already recorded cannot be repaired by lowering the level. The meters show sample peaks and RMS change, not LUFS or intersample true peaks.
The tool processes audio locally and exports a 16-bit WAV. Listen to both quiet and loud sections before keeping the new file, and retain the original.
