Online Audio Cutter & Trimmer
Using the Audio Cutter & Trimmer
Trim the beginning or end of a recording, save a short excerpt, or remove an unwanted section from the middle. Choose whether to keep the selected audio or remove it before making your cut.
Instructions
- Click Choose audio, drop a file into the editor, or use Try a demo. Wait for the waveform and duration to appear.
- Set Selection starts and Selection ends in seconds. You can also move the waveform edges or use the sliders. Play Selection to check the boundaries.
- Choose the edit mode: keep the selection to save that excerpt, or remove the selection to join the audio on either side. Use the edge-fade option to soften the edit boundaries.
- Click Make the cut, listen with Result, then choose Download WAV. If you change the selection or settings, make the cut again to create a new result.
Checking the length of your edit
Keeping a selection exports the audio between its start and end. Removing a selection shortens the recording by that section's length and joins the remaining parts. The export is an uncompressed 16-bit WAV at the decoded sample rate, with the source channels preserved. An MP3 source is decoded before editing, so its export will still be a WAV.
What to do if the cut sounds abrupt
- Listen around both boundaries. Move them away from a word, note attack or sustained sound that you want to keep.
- Enable the short edge fades if you hear a click. Fades soften the boundaries, but an awkward musical join may still need a different cut point.
- Set the end after the start and keep both within the recording. Remove mode cannot delete the entire file.
Your source file stays on your device and is not overwritten. Download the finished edit before refreshing or leaving the page.
