Spotify Lyrics Not Working? (4 Fixes)

If you’re a Spotify user, you may have noticed that the lyrics feature doesn’t always work. There could be various reasons for this, but don’t worry – there are a few things you can try to fix it. This includes reinstalling the app, a simple relog, or updating Spotify.

In this article, I’ll go over some of the most common fixes for when Spotify lyrics aren’t working.

1. Make Sure That Your App Is Not Out Of Date

It’s always a good idea to make sure that your Spotify app is up to date. To do this on your mobile device, open the App Store (for iOS users) or Google Play Store (for Android users) and search for Spotify. If there’s an update available, install it and try playing a song again.

The Spotify web player is automatically updated so you will have no worries there, however, if you’re using the desktop app, you will need to do this manually. If an update is available, you will see a blue dot next to the menu button. Click on it and select ‘Update Available, Restart Now’.

Reinstalling the app is also a way to go as it will automatically install the latest version of Spotify.

2. Log Out And Log Back In

If you’re still having trouble, try logging out of your Spotify account and then logging back in. Follow the steps below.

1. Click On Your Profile And Select ‘Log Out’

2. Click Log In and Enter Your Credentials

Click on the ‘Login’ button as seen below and enter your Spotify credentials. Once you’re logged in, try playing a song with lyrics again.

If you’re using the phone app, the steps are technically the same. You can find the ‘Settings’ button on the upper-right corner of the screen as seen below.

At the bottom of the Settings page, there’s an option to ‘Log Out’. Click on it and then log back in when prompted.

3. Uninstall And Reinstall The App

If the two methods above didn’t work, you can try uninstalling and then reinstalling the Spotify app. This is a bit more drastic, but it’s worth a shot if nothing else has worked.

4. Contact Customer Service

It’s unusual for the lyrics feature to not work at all, but if you’re still having trouble, you can contact Spotify customer service. They should be able to help you troubleshoot the issue and get the lyrics working again.

Another reason might be the lyrics provider itself. Musixmatch is the most popular lyrics provider for Spotify, and if their servers are down, you won’t be able to see the lyrics no matter what. You can check the status of their servers on their website.

Final Thoughts

Those are some of the most common fixes for when Spotify lyrics aren’t working. As I mentioned, the most likely reason is that the lyrics provider (Musixmatch) is down. But if that’s not the case, try one of the methods above and you should be able to get the lyrics working again.
