All-in-one Combo Amp for Electric, Acoustic, and Bass!

No more having to take multiple amps to a gig for different instruments or settling for so-so tones from an unoptimized amp. The multi-instrument Peavey Vypyr X 1 1x8-inch 30-watt Modeling Guitar/Bass/Acoustic Combo Amp contains models of electric, acoustic, and bass amplifiers. By utilizing Peavey's groundbreaking Variable Instrument Input, this powerful combo amp changes the gain structure and input sensitivity based on what instrument you use, ensuring the best sound possible from electric, acoustic, and bass guitars. Ensuring you'll always find the perfect fit for every gig, there are 36 unique amp models onboard, including six acoustic and six bass amp models. And with Peavey's WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, there's no more guessing where your knobs are set when you switch presets — each one is surrounded by LEDs to indicate their setting.

Versatile effects for professional sounds

The Vypyr X 1 features 12 stompbox effects with parameter controls, as well as universal delay and reverb. This means you have chorus, wah, compression, flanger, octaver, tremolo, rotary speaker, and more effects at your disposal at a fraction of the cost it would take to gather each one separately — something Sweetwater's tone chasers thoroughly appreciate. This combo amp also comes loaded with Peavey's TransTube analog technology, reproducing the grit and warmth of genuine tubes while leaving all of its processing power for the effects. Look to the Vypyr X 1 for stellar tone with fantastic stompbox effects to match!

Built-in USB interface

The Peavey Vypyr X 1 also acts as a computer audio interface, with a built-in, studio-quality USB 3.0 output that is recognized by computers as an audio device. Just fire up your favorite recording software and start laying down tracks — it's that simple!

Rivals evh 5150 50w

This amp knocked my socks off. My regular rig is an EL34 EVH 50w head into a 2x12 cabinet. I wanted to get a small amp so I can go to my friends house and just do a little jam. I just randomly selected this vypyr because I never tried a peavy before and I am absolutely shocked by how thunderous this little thing is. It's bassy, it's punchy and it is LOUD. Effects are great. The 6505 sim is great. I just can't believe it.

A Lot of Bang for the Buck

This replaced a practice amp that drowned in the hurricane. I was looking for an amp that delivered singing leads, crunchy rhythm with good underlying jangle, and a decent chorus effect. This delivers all of those.

The Peavey amp models are pretty representative of the real thing. Others are a little generic, but for the money you're not getting a Helix, Fractal, or Kemper system. It's a really good practice amp.

Volume-wise, it quickly goes from bedroom to basement/garage volume levels turned about one-third the way up. After that, the speaker and output transformer run out of gas. There's a reason the small amps people use onstage (Deluxe, AC30, etc.) cost 5 times as much. This is a good PRACTICE amp.

Modeling amps can be thought of as "smart amps". They work a little differently than regular amps in that they process (interpret) their inputs. Not a problem with plugging an instrument right in-sounds great. Stomp boxes can do weird things, though. Modulation effects like chorus, phase, and wah are fine. It likes delay too much-the subtle delay I use to bulk up my solo sound came out of this amp sounding like Iron Butterfly. And I've yet to find a modeling system that likes distortion or overdrive (Tube Screamer, Fuzz Face, and MT-2 all sounded awful). Generally, it's best to look at these as closed systems, and get the pedalboard if you want to use all of the system's capabilities.

I've played Peavey since 1980

It's good to know that they can still surprise me. I needed a small low power amp to use with my 4-track home system and I needed it to do a lot. This well surpassed what I needed. Its versatility allows me to switch between my acoustic 6&12s and my electric solid and semi-hollow bodies with ease. It's a little less than I hoped for with my bass as far as the speaker size but it makes me smile every time I pair this relatively new Peavey amp with my 1979 T-40 bass. It just seems so full circle. I've done a lot with it but I seriously doubt I'll ever get to every sound combination this amp can do. Bottom line? It's just plain FUN!
Music background: Almost 50 years with guitars and percussion.

Amazing Value!

This was on sale so I pulled the buy button. I like the weight, not too heavy at 17.5 lbs for my old man self. I have the value guitar the Kramer Focus and it sounds wild! I'm anxiously waiting for my bass to come in to test it out. My DR100 is only acoustic, so no plugging it in, but I'm sure it would have also sounded great.

I really like this amp!

Great amp, especially for the price

The amplifier's clean models sound very authentic. Especially the AC30, Fender Twin and Buddha models. There are many higher gain amps and they do what they do well. It works well as a lower wattage bass amp and the built ineffects are cool. I prefer this amp over the Katana series simply for it's ease of use and greater selection of higher gain amps. Only negative is you can't use any foot switch with is, but it's not that important to me anyway
Music background: Shred, Jazz, Hendrix
