Clarity VS "Oomph" - the Shure MVL vs Rode Lavalier Go

Watched/heard a lot of sample recordings before choosing between this and the Rode Lavalier Go.

I ended up choosing the Shure MVL - and I'm still happy with the purchase months later. There's some key reasons why.

My use case is two talking heads on camera in different office locations with a one-man video/audio recording crew. Why lavs?

- A "podcast" two-mic setup with stands weighs too much to pack in and out and looks bad on video

-Shotgun mics are prohibitively expensive and sound bad without acoustic control

It's important to know - any omnidirectional condenser mic (like the MVL and the Lavalier Go) will be highly sensitive to background noise. Watch out for the HVAC and flutter echo in the room!

If you're running an interview with a pair of these mics, get ready to have quite a bit of the interviewer in the interviewee's mic, and vice versa. Because my locations don't sound nice, having a very "tailored" or "scooped" response saves me time that'd I'd use EQing a darker mic.

The Rode Lavalier Go has more "chest sound" or "low end" - this sounds better when your source speaker is in a room with good acoustics, little off-camera noise, and the positioning of the mic is perfect. If I was recording in a more controlled environment, I'd likely go for Rode's product instead.

In my case, the sharper response in the Shure MVL is better.
